Since the weather outside has been really freezing this last month, I decided to share with you a tutorial for making your own reusable coffe cozies. These not only look totally cute, but they also protect you from burning your hands when holding your morning cup of coffe and they help keeping your beverage longer warm. An allround talent
So this is what you’ll need:
I used two fabrics, one for the outside and another for the inside. But you could of course use a single fabric for everything. You can find a template on the internet (for example here) or you could grab a cardboard one the next time you buy your coffee. You will also need a button and some elastic tape if you’re going to make an adjustabla coffee sleeve.
Remember when cutting out – leave some 1 cm seam allowance. In the end you should have three cozy-shaped pieces: two fabric ones and the batting.
Now comes the somehow tricky part: figuring out how to stitch them together. I did some trial-and-error here, but i the end I got it:
Before you stitch, take an elastic band, make a loop and place it between the two fabric sheets swith the loop inwards (inside) and the knot outside the fabric sandwich. This will be part of our adjustable fastening mechanism.
You can leave the gap either at one of the ends or someplace along the long edge of the cozy. I find the gap at one end is easier to stitch closed because it’s a straight edge.
And now you’re done! These come great as fifts, or party favors or make them to impress everyone tomorrow in the office when you walk in with your stylish cozie’d coffe
PS: I get my lovely photo layouts from PuglyPixel. Make sure you check out her blog! Some pics also feature a Photoshop action from TheYummyOne.

This is great! I can’t wait to try and make one, two..tens!
Thanks for sharing.
Oh, I too am a fan of PuglyPixel
