New supplies and supply boxes

Hello everyone! Haven’t been blogging for a while because I am immersed in a LOT of new projects. Some of them are finished by now and they will gradually appear here too. But today I am excited not because of my finished handmade goodies, but because my supplies order has finally arrived. Don’t you love when your long wished for supply package arrives at last?

I wanted for almost a year and a half to start making cabochon jewelry. Not giving up the felting stuff of course, just as a side collection. My felted goodies are (to me) very colorful and bold and funky, and I wanted a jewelry collection to suit more classic and romantic styles. So I got myself some cabochon settings, but I never used them (except for these polymer clay projects). I think that just putting a picture in them and sealing with varnish still makes them look unfinished.

However, now I have bought off the Internet some nice glass cabochons to put over the picture. They seal it off very nicely and professional and also have a magnifying function. They’re exactly what I was looking for…unfortunately I couldn’t get them in one of the sizes my settings were, but I spotted a seller who sometimes has resin cabochons in this size, so maybe I will buy them instead.

Here are some pics of my settings, the cabochons and some other supplies I have bought (copper chain and little adorable earring settings for tiny tiny cabochons, lovely). The cabochons in the pics were not glued on, just trying to see how the finished pieces would look like. Today I have managed to glue a piece and I will show it t you soon. So, what do you thing about them? They sure look nice and vintage to me :)

And speaking of supplies, I never got to show off my new amazing storage boxes! My boyfriend bought them for me while I was still in Berlin and they are wonderful (actually, I think he bought them also for a bit of self interest – he must have been annoyed with my crafting supplies being absolutely everywhere….)

Anyway, here they are: one big box for ‘This’n That’ which holds most supplies I use everyday, the Jewelry box where I put small finished pieces and odds & ends and the Sewing box, containing my sewing supplies. Oh, and the big basked for keeping all my wool roving. Lovely, aren’t they?
